This is my first 5.1 surround sound system. Previously I have been using a Sony soundbar in my living room, where I could not run cables. The remote and much of the HW appears designed and shared with these two systems. I remodeled my basement and now can run cables freely. I have a Vizio 55″, connected optical audio cable from TV to receiver. Connected my PS3 via HDMI, connected PS2 via optical cable. Then receiver to TV via HDMI for the PS3 video passthru. The receiver and PS3 integrate seamlessly, as one would expect.
Setup was reasonably straightforward, as expected the real labor is arranging the speakers roughly around the seating area and then running the audio tests. Once configured and settings saved, I tested all the audio sources and they worked right away. Sounded great, FM radio too. Later I cleaned up the cable routing. Have not tested the ipod integration.
Got this on sale from Amazon, roughly 0 off Sony’s price. Great value for name brand, clean integration, and sound output/quality. And the supersaver free delivery came in only 2 days!
